In 1600, nearly 100,000 people were squeezed into the ‘Square Mile’. Amongst them was actor and playwright, William Shakespeare. Starting at Bank tube, this walk explores the period during which he wrote masterpieces including Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Visit the surviving church that he worshipped at and hear tales of his real neighbours who lived nearby.
